Cargo Insurance Claim Guide

This guide is to help only, and does not constitute an integral part of the insurance contract. If there is any confusion or inconsistency should follow insurance contract.

1. To claim immediately on the Carriers, Port Authorities or other Bailees for any missing packages.
2. In no circumstances, except under written protest, to give clean receipts where goods are in doubtful condition.
3. Inform the Carriers and other Parties regarding their liability for the damage in written form, hold them responsible for it, and get confirmation of the claim period.
4. If the loss or damage was not apparent at the time of taking delivery:

a: Get certificate of loss or damage and/or short-landed memo issued by the carrier, the port and/or the customs which can prove that the loss/damage occurred during transit and the extent of damage.

b: When delivery is made by Container, to ensure that the Container and its seals are examined immediately by their responsible official, if the container is delivered damaged or with seals broken or missing or with seals other than as stated in the shipping documents, to clause the delivery receipt according and retain all defective or irregular seals for subsequent identification.

c: You should immediately contact the survey agent on the policy to apply for survey and invite the related parties for a joint survey.

5. Report to the police if pilferage or robbery or car accident happened; and get any certificate issued by police.
6. Take all necessary measures to minimize the loss.
7. Contact underwriters to report case and notice us about the accident and damage, our staff responsible for the claims will track the case after acceptance.
8. To enable claims to be dealt with promptly, the following documents are needed:

a: Original Insurance Policy or Insurance Certificate.

b: Original Bill of Lading and/or Air Waybill and/or Railway Waybill and/or Highway Waybill, Shipping Specification and/or Carriage Contract.

c: Commercial Invoice and/or Packing List and/or Weight Notes.

d: Sales Contract and/or Purchase Order.

e: Certificate of loss or damage and/or short-landed memo issued by the carrier, the port and/or the customs which can prove that the loss/damage occurred during transit and the extent of damage.

f: Claim letter or fax addressed to the consignee, carrier and/or other responsible parties.

g: Claim note which clarify the policy no, damage situation, the claim amount and detailed account information.

h: Photos showing the loss or damage of goods.

i: Original survey report (if have applied for survey).

j: Report issued by police (cases of pilferage, robbery, malicious damage or car accident).

k: Other relevant documents according to the actual demand.
